In that time, while WoW was being ruined by all of the above, WoW has quintupled its subscriber base. So don’ t be disappointed if Blizzard doesn’t leap to change whatever you say is killing the game.
That pretty much sums up most of my thoughts on the “ZOMG UR RUININ THE GAEM” mindset. My only other reactions to the whole minipets-for-money fiasco can be summed up as follows.
- This is basically the same as paying money for a loot card, only it cuts out the middleman, so it’s kind of got a weird feeling to it – but deep down, I know it’s really not that different. It’s just who I’m buying it from.
- I sincerely believe Blizzard knows the line between selling vanity items like minipets and mounts, and selling actual content like impactful loot.
- I love Lil’ K.T. to death, and his ability to frostbolt critters to death is fantastic. The Pandaren monk, however, never fails to make me jump like a shot when he starts abruptly making his kung-fu noises in an otherwise-quiet zone.
Keep the comments civil, because I know a lot of people have very strong opinions on this, or I’ll shut them right the heck off.

Lil KT is the BEST THING EVER.
And yeah, I see no difference between getting a minipet through this and getting one through a TCG card or something. You paid real money for both. /shrug
Neopets has been doing this for a couple years now, you get some exclusive customization items if you pay real cash, but nothing that actually impact’s the game’s economy or the like. Same deal here. Works for me!

People whining should fuck off to another game, really, why complain pointlessly? Do something about it; play a different game. It's not like Blizzard are accountable to anyone but their shareholders and their own extremely high standards of quality. I love WoW, and trust Blizzard to do the right thing.
If they start to screw up horrendously (ie. the game is not fun anymore), then I'd leave… but probability is low to zero.
Kung Fu Panda is a great fishing buddy — he seriously livens things up. And as for Lil' K.T. well I clicked on him a dozen or so times last night to hear his gurgley noise. I love the mini pets, and had good luck obtaining loot cards from the card game that I saw other folks pay silly prices for on eBay. I personally hope they expand to other fun non-game changing items, like dress-up clothes or in-game gifts you can give your friends.

Nope. He frosted a penguin near Deathspeaker's Watch and several maggots in Naxx, and there's a video of him freezing a bunny in Eversong Woods.
I guess he's just not a fan of freezing squirrels in Stormwind then.
Alright, I'll take the little bugger for a walk during lunch today and see if he likes some of the other critters.
I think point 2 is more important that people realise. Check the pet store FAQ – it's actually reiterated in the last item there.
Assuming you mean this FAQ, so I'll quote the last item here:
"Does this mean you'll be introducing more services like this in the future? Will you be introducing the ability to buy epic weapons/etc. in the future, for example?
As with the pets, mounts, and other items players can obtain through Loot cards from the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, Pet Store pets are purely cosmetic and just for fun. Like other paid services we offer, such as Paid Name Changes, Race Changes, and Character Re-Customizations, the Pet Store service is entirely optional and intended to provide players another means to enjoy World of Warcraft in a way that isn't detrimental to the game and that doesn't detract from the gameplay experience for players who choose not to use the service."
