On the general subject of AoE threat... don't forget Blood Boil. You have to disease the mobs for full effectiveness, but it's the only AoE threat spike non-frost DKs have. The downside is that if you need a boost in threat NOW you don't have time to disease the mob first, even if you have two blood runes available. It does excellent work, however, maintaining threat after the initial Death & Decay without waiting for the stars to align so you've got the runes to use D&D again, and in larger piles of mobs BB will out-damage both Blood Strike and even Heart Strike.

Of course, despite all that, I often forget I have Blood Boil because it's so rarely useful when I'm soloing, though I'm getting better about it.

Your list of skills available to you while silenced is still far longer than the same list would be for a Paladin Tank.

That was where I first figured it out (trial by fire!). Nowadays I mark the stewards as having to die first; everyone else in those trash packs is negligible compared to those silencing bastards.

You know that trash pull in Nexus, I think the Stewards have a silence? They can be a pain in the ass.
